Stress Sewing (Simplicity 8987)
This week was long and stressful, so I worked on this top every night after work to decompress. It was very relaxing to listen to my sewing machine hum while having some true crime shows playing in the background. By the end of my 30 minute to 1 hour sessions, I felt a whole lot better.
The fabric
I used a knit crepe that I found at Joann’s. It’s pretty thick so I don’t see myself wearing this top very much in the coming months. I’ll keep it for the random Florida cold snaps. It was pretty easy to work with, but it snags easily which makes it pretty tricky when having to use the seam ripper.
The pattern
I sewed view A of Simplicity 8987. I love the sleeves. It was my first time making cuffs, so I found it to be a little tricky. The next time I make this, I’ll try a thinner fabric. All in all, the instructions were easy to follow and I am pleased with the outcome.
Final thoughts
I love the way this shirt turned out! I will definitely make it again using a thinner fabric. I can see this looking really fly in an Ankara print. I also want to make the short sleeve version. How do you decompress after work? Let me know in the comments below!
Until next time!
